Basketball teams search for momentum as season draws to a close By MICHAEL BOYLAN The final three games of the regular season of high school basketball is upon us. Local teams are jockeying for tournament seeding and trying to gain or maintain momentum. McIntosh's boys and girls have some momentum. The Lady Chiefs scored their second win in a row on Friday with a 59-46 win over the Lady Bulldogs of Mt. Zion, Jonesboro, while the boys got their fifth win in a row with a 66-47 win. The Chiefs were down 31-29 at the half but exploded in the third quarter, building a 52-38 lead going into the fourth quarter. Scott Prah finished with 24 points and Dexter Manley added 21. McIntosh played at North Clayton last night and will host Evans on Friday. The Starr's Mill Lady Panthers got a 49-48 win over Lovejoy as Amanda Woodward hit the game winner at the buzzer. The teams were deadlocked at 38 entering the fourth quarter and exchanged the lead several times. Erica Harris scored 14 points for Starr's Mill while Erin Ricker and Ashley Marine added 11 points a piece. The boys team lost 68-59. The Panthers had a two point lead at the half and found themselves tied 45-45 going into the fourth quarter. Aubrey Kidd was injured in the game and Lovejoy took over in his absence. Gary Kubik finished with 22 points and Reid Bosworth scored 15 points. Starr's Mill hosted Newnan last night and will host Jonesboro on Friday. Fayette County's girls produced a 60-45 win over Stockbridge after outscoring them 18-3 in the third quarter. Anne Hancock scored 18 points for Fayette County. The boys lost to 10th ranked Stockbridge, 80-64. Travis Norris was the leading scorer for Fayette County with 19 points. Fayette County hosted Henry County last night and will travel to take on Lovejoy on Friday. Sandy Creek was off over the weekend and played at Heritage high School last night. They will host Union Grove on Friday night.
