Allah has no Son, so how can he be same as Christian God? I read your letters to the editors on Jan. 23 from Kate Martin and Jeff Ellis. I felt that I was compelled to respond. Ms. Martin writes that Allah is the same God that Christians worship. Allah had no son. He cannot be the same God the Father that Christians worship. While Muslims do recognize Jesus as a great prophet, they do not believe he is the Son of God, again leading to the conclusion that the Allah of Islam is not the same God that Christians worship. Ms Martin equates "devout, passionate, and thorough in your religious beliefs" as somehow making those beliefs true. Perhaps she should remember the Jim Jones experience where several hundred were "devout and passionate," but dead wrong. I agree with Ms. Martin that we should be "accepting of people that are different from us." Jesus did command us to "Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you," Luke 6:27. But as a Christian, and trying to speak with love, they are wrong. Does Ms. Martin know that the word "love" is not in the Qu'ran? Ms. Martin is lucky not to live in a Muslim country. A letter saying that Christians must be accepted would not be allowed. She would quickly find that the freedoms she takes for granted in this country just do not exist in the Muslim world.
