Kudos to Sen. Seabaugh I would like to commend state Senator Mitch Seabaugh for his proposed bill to add another step to the salary ladder for Georgia teachers. It has long seemed that most of the education reforms of the last 20 years have focused on attracting new teachers to the teaching career. While there is indeed a major need for always attracting new people to education, I agree with Sen. Seabaugh that the other side of the coin is the necessity for retaining and rewarding those teachers who have stayed the course and continued to work with our children. It says much about Seabaugh and his staff that they are taking the time to listen to the community and teachers about the needs of our schools. Too bad that Governor Barnes didn't think any of that was necessary before he launched his educational agenda. Steven R. Harbin Newnan
