Closed tax talks: Why the secrecy with our money?

Fayette County, Peachtree City, Fayetteville, and Tyrone have no money. It is our money. We, the citizens of these towns and of this county, pay our taxes.

Since this is still a free society, the expenditure of this tax money, my money and yours, is my business.

With this in mind I ask myself, What is being discussed about the use of my money that they do not want me to know?

My rather suspicious mind begins to wonder about possible deals or compromises being made that some politicians don't want us to know because it might make their reelection more difficult.

Mind you, I have no evidence of this and I have no one that I suspect. I do have, however, a very inquisitive mind.

It would appear that the judge ordered that discussions be held to reach a solution. As far as we, the citizens, know, he did not order the meetings to be held in secret. If that is the case then I, as a citizen of Fayette County, would welcome a public explanation.

The Bible says, "Abstain from all appearance of evil." (I Thessalonians 5:2) Now whether you are a Christian or whether you even believe the Bible, that is a very good principle to follow.

If nothing dishonest or unethical is happening and if no political deals are being made, and I have no evidence at all to believe there are, then let's bring the meetings out in the open so that everyone can testify to the "above board" solution to the problem.

Honesty and integrity is then clearly evident and the people's confidence in their leaders is enhanced.
