Basketball teams prepare for busy weekend By MICHAEL
BOYLAN Tuesday night's high school basketball action saw the McIntosh boys and the Fayette County boys win, while the Lady Chiefs and both the boys and girls from Starr's Mil lost. Mcintosh faced East Coweta on Tuesday. The Chiefs led the entire way, building a 50-31 lead by the end of the third quarter and winning 61-47. Dexter Manley led the team in scoring with 19 points while Scott Prah and Drew Hartley each added eight points. The Lady Chiefs had an early lead over East Coweta but found themselves down by 10 ggoing into the fourth quarter. McIntosh rallied but could not overcome the deficit and lost, 43-34. Haynes Kleimeyer was the leading scorer for the Lady Chiefs with 11 points and Whitney Wallis added seven points. Also on Tuesday, Fayette County's boys defeated Forest Park, 66-57 on Tuesday. They will host Mt. Zion, Jonesboro tonight. McIntosh will travel to take on Eagle's Landing tonight before heading down the road tomorrow to meet Starr's Mill. Starr's Mill met North Clayton on Tuesday night and both the boys and the girls lost. The Lady Panthers fell 51-46, despite building an eight point lead in the second quarter. There were several lead changes in the third quarter and North Clayton took over in the fourth quarter hitting their free throws after Starr's Mill was forced to foul them. Ashley Marine was the leading scorer for Starr's Mill with 18 points. The boys had the lead for most of the first half but found themselves trailing 26-24 at the half. North Clayton toom over in the secod half and won 70-51. Gary Kubik was the leading scorer for Starr's Mill with 11 points, while Aubrey Kidd had seven points. Starr's Mill will host Evans tonight and McIntosh tomorrow. Sandy Creek will travel to Rockdale County tonight and will host Woodward Academy tomorrow. The boys are coming off a double overtime loss ot Creekside, while the girls are coming off a huge upset and their third win in four games.
