McIntosh swim team defeats Fayette

The McIntosh swim team had a successful meet against Fayette County High School last Friday. The girls won 118 to 32 and the boys won 85 to 64.

"We had excellent swims from Annya Lee, Nadia Britz, Anna Lione, Monica Lehman, Josh Obertein, and Wall Tegegne," said Coach Polly Kichefski. Notably, Annya Lee qualified for the state meet in the 50 Free, adding to the two individual events for which she has already qualified.

On Saturday, about 18 McIntosh swimmers participated in the University of Georgia invitational meet. Forty teams were represented at the invitational. The swimmers had a chance to swim against some of the swimmers they will meet at the state meet.

Kichefski was encouraged by her swimmer's performance. "Obertein hit all his best times. Lindsay Lockridge turned in an outstanding swim in the 100 Breaststroke as did Junco Mase," she said.

The next meet for McIntosh is Friday, Jan. 18 at Kedron Fieldhouse and Aquatics Center against Starrs Mill.
