NAACP seeks information about school discipline problems

As the president of the Fayette County NAACP Branch, I write this letter soliciting your support as this branch of the NAACP seeks to remain proactive in our struggle against injustice and unfair treatment when dealing with citizen rights and civil freedoms. We respectfully request your newspaper run the following ad in hopes of assisting us examine the potential misuse of the "loco-parentis" policy by educators, administrators and local law enforcement personnel when dealing with disciplinary infractions by Fayette County School students.

Local N.A.A.C.P. seeks information and data:

The Fayette County Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is examining the application and implementation of the "loco-parentis" policy that allows public school educators and administrators act on a parent's behalf when students are in public school environments.

All parents who have children that have been disciplined or charged with criminal violations based upon information obtained by school administrators are asked to call 770-460-9934 and provide contact and background information. This data will be kept confidential.
