Local teams get back in action this weekend

Area students will return to school on Monday but some of the athletic teams will return to the playing fields as early as tonight.

In basketball action, Starr's Mill plays at Fayette County tonight, while Sandy Creek travels to take on Union Grove. The girls games will start at 7 p.m. and will be followed by the boys games. McIntosh will play at East Coweta tomorrow evening, while Sandy Creek will host Westlake. Games begin at 6 p.m on Saturday.

Some local wrestling teams will get started today in preparation for Tuesday's county dual meet at McIntosh. Starr's Mill will compete in the Hoover Invitational in Birmingham, Ala. today and tomorrow, while McIntosh will host Wheeler today at 6 p.m. The county meet will begin at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

The local swim teams will wait another week to return to action. McIntosh will take on Fayette County at the Kedron Aquatic Center Friday, Jan. 11 at 5:30 p.m. The following day McIntosh and Starr's Mill will compete in the Oconee County Invitational.
