After battling through the South Metro Wrestling Invitational last weekend, the local high school wrestling teams will either host or head to several separate tournaments.

McIntosh will hold the McIntosh Christmas Classic this weekend. This event is smaller than it used to be but will include some of the top wrestling programs in a hotly contested dual meet. The meet will start on tomorrow at 9 a.m. McIntosh placed seventh in the South Metro tournament last weekend and should be competitive throughout the region this year. McIntosh wrestled against LaGrange, Mt. Zion Jonesboro and Fayette County on Wednesday.

Starr's Mill will host the Starr's Mill Christmas Classic today and tomorrow. The Panthers placed eighth at South Metro and are in a bit of a rebuilding year after two consecutive state championships. Wrestling starts at 5 p.m. today and 9 a.m. tomorrow. East Coweta, which placed sixth at the South Metro Invitational, will wrestle at Starr's Mill this weekend. Starr's Mill faced Columbia, Marietta and Woodward Academy on Tuesday.

Sandy Creek faced Heritage, Troup and McNair on Wednesday. The Patriots lost to all three teams but only wrestled eight wrestlers. The team is currently wrestling without Thomas Whitley, Michael Sitton, Adam Byrd and Martin Montalvo. Montalvo may be ready to wreslte this weekend though. Brandon McDowell, now 15-5 on the season, won all three of his matches, while Joey Singleton won his match against McNair and Zach Campbell won his match against Heritage. The Patriots will wrestle in the Landmark Invitational today and tomorrow. Wrestling begins at 5 p.m. today and 9 a.m. tomorrow.
