Cancel my susbscription to Time Magazine

I love this country for many reasons.

First of all I love it for our constitutional freedoms. Isn't it interesting that the very first item in the Bill of Rights is freedom of religion?

We go down the list and come to freedom of speech. This may seem like an any-country God-given right; however, history has proven that this is not the case.

I was watching the news in Afghanistan where the Northern Alliance troops, with coalition support, had just drivenout the Taliban rulers from Kabul. The news report was showing how life was changing immediately after the cruel rulers departed. The reporter was indicating that a soccer game was being played in the soccer field for the first time in quite a while.

One would think that the citizens of Kabul have been playing soccer for years and what would be so newsworthy about a soccer game? The reporter indicated that under the rule of the Taliban, during a public soccer game they would often stop the game and drag some citizen into the arena and execute them in public.

It was alleged on the news that Time magazine is considering placing bin Laden on its cover as Man of the Year, if they haven't already done it.

Along with our constitutional freedoms is freedom of the press, which I spent 30 years of my life defending in the military. I also realize that the magazine is approaching this from a media standpoint and has the right to print what they want to print. I also realize that by printing his picture on the cover of the magazine, it will give bin Laden credibility in the eyes of other murdering dogs that will fly planes into buildings during rush hour to inflict the maximum damage on American citizens.

I picked up a copy of Time magazine at the barber shop and read an article about Colin Powell and his relationship with President Bush. The article was attempting to "poison the well" as it indicated that President Bush was holding Powell back in some way as he served as our secretary of state.

I served under Colin Powell and in myopinion there is not a finer and more capable American for the job then he.

If you have a subscription to Time magazine, it might just be time to CANCEL it. That is another right I love in this country, the right to NOT give them my business.

I must confess that a copy of Time magazine will not be bought or brought into my house if bin Laden is given the title Man of the Year. This flies in the face of the thousands of Americans who lost their lives on 9/11.

And while we are on this subject, I wish the media when they speak of the lives lost on 9/11, will quit omitting the Americans at the Pentagon, both military and civilian, who also lost their loved ones on that terrible day. All were heroes. All were living their lives because of the constitutional freedoms that make America great!
