Starr's Mill swimmers beat Fayette

Starr's Mill swim team had a big win over Fayette on Nov. 30 at the Kedron Aquatic Center. The Lady Panthers swam away with a huge score of 201 points to Fayette's 74, while the boys finished 176 to Fayette's 98.

Starr's Mill continues to add more swimmers and events to its state team. Kyle Flora was the new individual qualifier in the 100 breaststroke. He finished with a time of 1:08.66. Brittany Stevens, who previously qualified in the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly, added to her events by qualifying in the 50 free with a time of 26.37. Kenny Jubb added to his events by also qualifying in the 50 free with a time of 23.24.

Two more relay teams qualified for state. Noah Copeland, Jared Siri, Flora and Jubb made a state cut for the boys team in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:41.54. The Panthers will also be sending a 400 yard relay team to the state meet in February. Jubb, Josh Strickland, Ricardo Ramos and Copeland qualified with a time of 3:43.57.

Starr's Mill is looking forward to Dec. 14 when they face Sandy Creek at Kedron.
