Even more Christmas activities this weekend

If you aren't in the Christmas spirit yet, there are plenty of places to go this weekend to help get your yuletide juices flowing.

Classic holiday shows are being performed all over the area, as well as assorted seasonal events and that gigantic light show they have in Callaway Gardens. If nothing in this article tickles your fancy, there is always Christmas shopping to be done.

Starting Friday, Festival Ballet will present "The Nutcracker" at the Henry County Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Advance tickets are $14 for adults, $12 for seniors and $8 for students. Admission at the door is $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and $9 for students. They will present the show on Saturday as well.

If you are in the mood for something different and classical in an entirely different way, Stately Oaks Plantation will offer an antebellum Christmas celebration from 7-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and $3 for children ages 5-12. Phone 770-473-9855.

There will also be a Candlelight Tour of Homes in Newnan Friday, sponsored by Newnan Hospital Auxiliary. The tour will last from 4-9 p.m. Phone 770-254-8217 for reservation information.

Also in Newnan Friday, Newnan Community Theatre Inc. will present "A Christmas Carol" at 8 p.m. Phone 770-683-NCTC or visit http://newnantheatre.com for ticket information. The group will present the show Saturday as well and the show will run through Dec. 15.

There will be a Christmas open house at Bonnie Castle in Grantville Saturday from 1-5 p.m. Bonnie Castle is an 1896 mansion that features a battlement to make it look like a castle, with stained glass and a grand staircase. It is a bed and breakfast that is 35 minutes from Hartsfield Airport. Admission is $5. Phone 770-583-3090.

Historic Washington, Ga. will celebrate its 15th annual holiday tour and dinner Saturday night. Tour tickets are $12 and can be purchased the day of the tour. Dinner tickets are $45 and include a reception and tour. They must be purchased in advance as seating is limited. Phone 706-678-1793 or 706-678-1922.

Westville, Ga.'s town of the 1850s will have its annual Yule Log ceremony Saturday. The ceremony will be performed by the First United Methodist Church Jubilee Singers from Tucker, Ga. and will begin at 3 p.m. Phone 1-888-SEE-1850.

Unicoi State Park Lodge will have its Christmas program Saturday from 2-8 p.m. There will be hay rides from 2-4 p.m., the making of crafts all day and dinner and music in the lodge from 5-8 p.m. Dinner is $7.95 and all other activities are free. Phone 1-800-573-9659, ext. 267.

Fayette Coweta Family Theatre will offer the holiday workshop "You've got character" from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9 for ages 8 to 14. Participants learn the secrets of creating believable characters on-stage. Hands-on exercises will be explored to help sharpen participants' natural creative abilities. The fee is $30.

FCFT will also offer the holiday workshop "The little one's production shop "Frosty The Snowman" Tuesday, Dec. 11 from 4-6:45 p.m. for ages 5 to 8. Participants will design simple costumes and sets, experience stage makeup and learn a dance as they prepare to present a 15-minute presentation of "Frosty the Snowman" to family and friends at the conclusion.
