The postseason for the local football teams is over, due mainly to turnovers. Starr's Mill and Landmark Christian both lost on the road, while East Coweta lost at home.

Starr's Mill faced Northside, Warner Robins and lost 35-7. Johnny Edwards started the game off with an interception for Starr's Mill but the Panthers struggled on offense. Their lone touchdown came from Chris Strauch in the fourth quarter. Northside opened up a 28-0 lead at the half and had rolled up 250 yards of offense to Starr's Mill's 75. They finished with 395 yards of offense, 316 of which came on the ground. In the second half Darrell Burston and Andrew Bashakes each recovered a fumble for Starr's Mill but the Panthers could not mount a comeback.

Landmark Christian gave up 456 yards of offense to Athens Academy and lost 49-14. The Spartans scored 21 points in the first quarter and never looked back. Landmark's quarterback Alex Mortensen threw for 118 yards and two touchdowns, but he also threw four interceptions. Landmark's two touchdowns came in the fourth quarter. The typically staunch War Eagle defense gave up 279 yards rushing on the night.

East Coweta couldn't score more than once on Friday and it caught up with them in the second half of their game against Westside, Macon. The Indians got a touchdown when Lee Heaberlin connected with Zack Smith for a 39 yard touchdown reception, giving them a 7-0 lead at the half. The Indians then had three turnovers in the second half lead to 18 Westside points.

Though the losses end this year's playoff hopes, one can almost be assured that all three teams will return to the postseason next year, stronger and more experienced.
