Gold's Gym to offer self defense courses

Gold's Gym will be offering Self-Defense courses to members and non-members beginning Nov. 27. The courses are being taught by Lt. Charles McCollum from the Fayette County Sheriff's Department. Lt. McCollum has been teaching self-defense to metro-Atlanta police departments for 13 years. He has also been trained in VIP protection through the Secret Service.

Each course will last four weeks and will consist of one-hour classes taught on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. These are not martial arts classes, they are designed to teach average people how to handle themselves in various situations. During the four-week course, McCollum will cover the use of personal weapons (bats, hands, elbows, head, knees, and feet) and how to use them to defend yourself.

Tuesday Sessions will be held on Nov. 27, Dec. 4, 11 and 18 from 7:45 - 8:45 p.m. at Gold's Gym of Peachtree City East, 964 Highway 54 (Next to PTC Dive Center). Call 770-631-9258. Thursday Sessions will be held on Nov. 29, Dec. 6, 13 and 20 from 7:45 - 8:45 p.m. at Gold's Gym of Peachtree City West, Highway 74 @ Aberdeen Parkway. Call 770-631-9901

The cost of each 4-week course is $45 for Gold's Gym members and $55 for non-members. Class size is limited to 20 and pre-registration is required.
