The Sandy Creek Lady Patriots basketball team has a new coach, several new players and a new attitude. The team has been working together since the summer and kicked off their season on Saturday night with a game against Fayette County High School.

Coached by Jim Waller, the Lady Patriots have only three seniors and only a few players who have a lot of varsity experience. They are getting used to Waller's system, which includes a man to man pressure defense, a good transition game, and a solid work ethic.

"I hope that our work ethic will be our strength," said Waller. "We will be a fundamentally sound basketball team and prepared. We're laying the foundation down to build a solid program" The coach's former teams were known for their stifling defense and the Lady Patriots will attempt to follow suit.

Sandy Creek opened their region schedule yesterday at Creekside. The Lady Patriots will also play in two holiday tournaments over Christmas break, one in Dacula before Christmas and one in North Gwinnett afterwards.
