BOYLAN Opening Today Black Knight Martin Lawrence travels back to medieval times, leads a revolt, falls in love with a damsel in distress and defeats the evil in this comedy. It seems like people are always going back in time to medieval times. Why doesn't anybody go back in time to Revolutionary War America or B.C. China? Rated PG-13. Out Cold This looks like the stupidest movie ever and they are constantly showing the commercial for it which means it probably is. A group of "gnarly" snowboarders do a bunch of "rad" things while they compete against snobby snowboarders in a big "competition." No thank you. PG-13. Spy Game Robert Redford stars a s a former spy that must go back under to save his protege, played by Brad Pitt. This is a nice cast and should be a solid drama. Rated R. Now Playing Bones Snoop Doggy Dogg plays a former "gangsta" who comes back from the dead to protect his "hood." This is getting decent reviews. I am not kidding. Pam Grier also stars in the film. Rated R. Domestic Disturbance John Travolta must save his son from the boy's stepfather. Vince Vaughn stars as the evil step dad. I guess this will be better than "Look Who's Talking, Too." At least, Travolta better hope so. Rated R. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone This was a great movie and would be enjoyable to people who haven't read the books. It ios a astory of magic, friendship, bravery in the face of danger (and wahat a face it is) and more. The cast is great, almost like it was in my head, and the direction is as nimble as possible for a movie that is over two and a half hours long. This is what a holiday film should be. Rated PG. K-Pax Kevin Spacey goes for another Oscar with his performance as an alien from Planet K-Pax. Oddly enough, Jeff bridges, who played Starman years and years ago, plays his therapist in this film. Hey, I knew a guy from Planet K-Tel, he sang the best hit songs of the '60s and '70s. Rated PG-13. Life as a House Kevin Kline is a dying man. He rebuilds his house and his life, which includes a broken marriage and a broken relationship with a broken son. Some people are comparing this to "American Beauty", I don't know if i would go that far, but Kline is pretty awesome. Oh, FYI, his son is played by Hayden Christiansen who will play Anakin Skywalker (y'know Darth Vader) in Episode II this summer Rated R. Monsters, Inc. The latest computer generated film from Pixar, the people who brought you the Toy Story films. This film focuses on monsters that live in closets and are afraid of children. This is an awfully cute, and entertaining family film. Rated G. Shallow Hal A man sees women only for their inner beauty after being hypnotized. This comedy stars Jack Black (kind of my hero) and Gwyneth Paltrow and is directed by The Farrelly Brothers. Rated PG-13. The Heist This is David Mamet's new film. Expect double crosses, gritty dialogue and crime oriented drama. Gene Hackman, Danny DeVito and strong language star. Rated R. The One Jet Li plays a thousand different Jet Lis in this film. As each alternate dimension form of Jet Li is eliminated, the remaining Jet Lis become stronger. The final battle between good Jet Li and evil Jet Li will be for all the marbles. Rated PG-13. Thirteen Ghosts The makers of "House on Haunted Hill" are out to scare you again with this film about, you guessed it, 13 ghosts. Shannon Elizabeth, Matthew Lillard and Tony Shalhoub star. Rated R. The Wash Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg work in a car wash. They get involved in a kidnapping and must battle the bad guys and save the day. This was written by one of the writers of "Friday," which was an entertaining movie. This movie is not for kids. Rated R. Training Day Denzel Washington in his first role as a villain. He plays a Los Angeles policeman who is training Ethan Hawke, a rookie, on how to be a cop in L.A. This looks pretty good. Rated R. Also Playing American Pie 2 The sequel to the popular comedy. This film is set after freshman year of college and the kids are just as crazy as ever. Rated R. Atlantis: The Lost Empire Perhaps it should have been called Disney: the Lost Empire. This movie bombed at the box office and did not look like classic Disney fare. Rated PG. Cats and Dogs A comedy for the kids. This has some very funny scenes and some cute moments, but it did not live up to my expectations. I was expecting a film that was fun for both kids and adults and was disappointed. Your kids won't be. Rated PG. Jeepers Creepers A horror movie that focuses on a brother and siser who stumble upon an evil creature and his lair. The film clocks in at just a little over 80 minutes. That is shorter than most Disney films. They really aren't giving you any credit for having much of an attention span, are they? Rated R. Joy Ride Two guys get into a little mischief with a CB on a road trip and end up being chased by a killer. Steve Zahn (Happy,Texas) and Paul Walker (The Fast and The Furious) are the guys and Leelee Sobieski is the girl that goes along for the ride. This looks like it could be a fun little movie. Rated R. Jurassic Park III Dr. Grant gets called back to the island of dinosaurs and tries to stay out of trouble. Lots of good effects and dinosaurs. This was much better than Jurassic Park II. Rated PG-13. Legally Blonde Reese Witherspoon goes to Harvard law school to win back her man. I rented this last weekend ad thought it was O.K. It will not win any awards or cure world hunger, but it will entertain you for a little over 90 minutes. Rated PG-13. Planet of the Apes Tim Burton's "re-imagining" of the classic film about astronauts stranded on a planet of, well, apes. Mark Wahlberg stars. They are also showing this in Spanish. Ay Curamba! Rated PG-13. Shrek Yes, this is out on video and DVD, but it is still cheaper if you see it at the dollar theater. It is a funny film and fairly family friendly. Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy lend their voices to the movie.
