Landmark boys finish second, while others take seventh at cross country state meet

The Landmark Christian School boys were expected to contend for the Class A title at the state cross-country meet. They did contend, but fell five points short.

Landmark had three finishers in the top 10 and six in the top 15. They were Clark Rivers, 2, 17:28; Blake Fertitta, 3, 17:43; Joseph Register, 5, 17:51; Eric Sumner, 12, 18:26; Chris Rogers, 14, 18:32 and James Register, 15, 18:32.66.

Landmark's girls placed seventh in class A. Their top six girls were Emily Wood, 20, 24:04; Mary Michael Joiner, 25, 24:30; Sarah King, 38, 25:22; Courtney Piribek, 47, 26:00; Kate Bailey, 56, 27:07. and Meredith Gable, 27:25.

McIntosh's boys and girls also placed seventh in the Class AAAAA meet. The top runners for the boys were Randy Hutchinson, 34, 17:59; Shaun Emery, 36, 18:01; Ben Brantly, 61, 18:32; Ian Hardy, 71, 18:41; Michael Bowman, 84, 18:56; and Charlie Gonzalez, 95, 19:06. John Miklas of Fayette County High School ran in the meet and finished 38th with a time of 18:06.

The top runners for the McIntosh girls were Judy Thomasson, 18, 21:22; Elizabeth Gardner,21, 21:27; Dana Van Winkle, 41, 22:13; Mary Crofton, 64, 23:02; Nicole Degner, 74, 23:30; Meagan Spencer, 84, 23:55 and Brittany Hall, 92, 24:30.
