Student wrong to oppose food for Afghan children I think the Starr's Mill High School student is very wrong about her article on not donating a dollar for the children in Afghan. It does not matter what the Taliban thinks or does with the food, is they do indeed confiscate it. America is a country that stands for humanity, also. I have a son in Fayette County High School and I would gladly donate a dollar to help these children. I wish Fayette County High would do this. I also have a son in Fayette Middle School as well. I would back these schools 100 percent if they choose to participate in this. As Americans we cannot lower ourselves to the terrorists' way of thinking. As Americans we need to try to pull off these food drops successfully. Think of all the men and women in the armed forces over there who are actually out there doing this to defend us. They need our support. Even if the food does not make it to the children and the terrorists confiscate it and takes the credit, God will punish them in his way. But in our hearts and in the eyes of God we are doing the right thing. To the girl who wrote that article, Where is your American spirit and support? Did you forget how many veterans were injured and have died for our causes? You should retract your statement in the paper and make an apology on behalf of all the veterans and men and women who are now fighting for even you. Terri Gilman TLG559@aol.com
