F Heritage Bank, a locally owned and operated community bank in south Metro Atlanta, has named banking industry veteran Bill Webb its vice president with responsibilities in commercial lending.

In this position, Webb will assist small and intermediate size businesses throughout Fayette and surrounding counties to meet their financial needs.

Webb brings more than 22 years of banking experience to Heritage Bank. Most recently, he served as vice president for SunTrust Bank in Carrollton, Ga. His early and continued involvement in economic development have been important contributions made by Webb, as well as, opportunities to learn how to meet the needs of businesspeople throughout metro Atlanta.

Webb holds a bachelor of arts degree from Vanderbilt University and is a 1993 graduate of The Stonier Graduate School of Banking.

The American Bankers Association published his thesis, "Inventory as a Source of Cash Flow."

He is married with three children and lives in Fayette County.

Heritage Bank expects to open a second Fayetteville office at Towne Center within the next two weeks. This addition will be the firm's fifth office in south metro Atlanta.

F Peachtree Brokerage Group, a division of Pathway Communities, is welcoming one of the South's leading economic development specialists, Pat Murphy, as its new director of office and industrial development.

Murphy will be responsible for working closely with statewide economic development officials from Georgia Power, Oglethorpe Power, the Georgia Department of Industry, Trade and Tourism and the real estate brokerage and developer community to keep The Fayette County Development Authority in conjunction with the Fayette County Board of Education has put together a program where local industries can participate with local schools to train the county's young residents.

To get the program started, a tour of three schools has been scheduled for industry members, who visited an elementary, a middle and a high school Oct. 10.

The next event will be today, when several teachers will tour two local industries and the Fayette County Hospital.

The authority also is looking for someone to participate as a host to the teachers. The event will encompass a tour of the facility and a brief synopsis of what the company looks for in a candidate for employment. The idea is to help teachers better understand what it is local industries need from the emerging work force, said a spokesman.

Peachtree City on the top of the list for companies looking to relocate to Georgia.

Once a business has chosen Peachtree City, Murphy will work with local officials to help make the company's move an easy one.

A veteran of the economic development industry, Murphy spent 20 years with Georgia Power and the last 12 in its economic development division.

Pat Heaberg, vice president of Peachtree Brokerage Group, calls Murphy "a professional who has proven he can make things happen on a very large scale."

"Murphy shares our vision for multifaceted business recruitment," said Heaberg, "and he also has a firm grasp on the selection process, making sure each prospective company's product, capacity and distribution system are compatible with what Peachtree City needs."
