The $3.4 million Buick Challenge returns to the Mountain View course at Callaway Gardens, Pine Mountain, Ga. Monday, Oct. 22- Sunday, Oct. 28. The Our Lady of Mercy Catholic High School booster club will be holding their Second Annual Bobcat Golf Classic on October 26, 2001 at the Links Golf Course. Costs are $75.00 per person or $280.00 per four man team. Price includes lunch and beverages, door prizes and a chance to win a week vacation in Destin, Florida. The seventh annual Bedrock Classic golf tournament, which raises money for Project S.A.F.E. in Coweta County, will take place Nov. 2 at 9:30 a.m. at Orchard Hills Golf Course. Former Braves pitcher Steve Bedrosian is the guest of honor, along with other Braves players and celebrities. The cost of the tournament is $75 per person or $300 per team. Southwest Christian Hospice will sponsor a Sports Memorabilia Auction Saturday, Nov. 3 at the American Legion Log Cabin in Fayettevile. The silent auction begins at 4 p.m. and the live auction begins at 5 p.m. Phone Lisa Bomar at 770-969-8354.

Yamaha and Summergrove Golf Club will have a charity golf tournament to benefit the Red Cross Disaster relief Fund, Saturday, Nov. 3. The Fayette County Wrestling Club, open to children Grades 1 through 8, practices two nights a week in the old Fayette County High School gym. The fee for the season is $80, which goes towards the wrestling card, a t-shirt and the FCHS wrestling team. The club finished second in the state last year. The Georgia Association of USA Track and Field will host The Georgia Association Cross Country Championship on November 10, in Carrollton, GA. This is a youth age group meet with ages from 8 & under thru 18 with the first race starting at 10 a.m. The cost is $4 per athlete. Christian City will have their annual Fall Classic at Eagle's Landing Country Club, Monday, Nov. 12. The tournament is a four man scramble and costs $200 per golfer or $800 for a foursome. The fourth annual Georgia High School Indoor Soccer Championships will be Jan. 2-4 at The Soccer Centre in Fayetteville. Teams will play the Futbol Rapido format in which games are 25 minutes long and each team is guaranteed four games. 770-460-8785.

System U Speed is now recruiting people interested in the highly competitive sport of inline speed skating. The team is currently practicing Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 4:30 to 6:30 at the Newnan Skate Palace. Jingle Bell Trail, Peachtree City Elementary's fifth annual 5K/1 mile fun run and walk. The run will start at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 9:10 a.m. The fee is $13 before Nov. 26 and $20 after Nov. 26. Phone 770-631-3250.
