The cross country season is nearing the final stretch.

Saturday, many teams competed in the Last Chance Invitational at Carollton High School. It is called the Last Chance Invitational, because it is the last chance for teams to qualify for the state meet, which will be at Carrollton High School, and it is the last chance for teams to measure themselves against some of the top contenders in the state.

In the boys championship division, Landmark Christian School, the top contender for the Class A championship, placed fourth overall, while Fayette County High School placed 16th, Starr's Mill placed 22nd, McIntosh placed 23rd and Sandy Creek placed 35th.

The top five runners for Landmark were Clark Rivers, 8, 16:51; Blake Fertitta, 17, 17:05; Joseph Register, 37, 17:37; Eric Sumner, 61, 18:01, and James Register, 90, 18:23. The Tigers' performance gives them a boost of confidence going into this weekend's region championship where they will have to face Starr's Mill and McIntosh.
