Starr's Mill continued their winning streak last Friday and Fayette County got back in the win column as well, while McIntosh, Sandy Creek and Our Lady of Mercy all lost.

Starr's Mill faced the Morrow Mustangs and corralled them, holding them to 51 yards of offense in a 28-0 win. Andrew Bashakes had 11 tackles and Darryl Burston had three sacks and three tackles for a loss. The Panther offense had 22 first downs on the evening. They rushed for 224 yards and passed for 132 yards. Chris Strauch, Jason Earwood and Recarta Heard each had a touchdown for the Panthers. Starr's Mill ((5-2) hosts McIntosh (0-6) on Friday.

Fayette County (3-4) defeated Forest park, 24-0, much the same way. The Tiger defense forced Forest Park to punt 10 times on Friday and won the battle for field position all night. Quarterback Jeff Crisp passed for 165 yards, including a touchdown to david Robinson. Matt Owens rushed for two touchdowns in the victory, while John Deraney added a field goal. Fayette County plays North Clayton (2-4) at Tara Stadium on Saturday at 5 p.m.

McIntosh hosted Mt. Zion, Jonesoboro last Friday for their homecoming night. The Chiefs fell down 13-0 early but played well after that in a 35-17 loss. Scott Prah caught a 25 yard touchdown pass from Luke Wiggs for one of the two Chief touchdowns, while Wigs scored the other touchdown on a one ard run. Omar Jarun capped off the points for the Chiefs with a 26 yard field goal. McIntosh was lead defensively by Drew Hartley with 11 tackles. The Chiefs travel down the road this Friday to face Starr's Mill.

Sandy Creek (2-4) hosted Westlake on Friday and lost 34-21. Phillip Hyde scored first for the Patriots, giving them a 7-0 lead, though Westlake lead 13-7 at the half. Kelving German scored a touchdown to give the Patriots the lead in the third quarter and quarterback Ben McKinnon threw a tuchdown pass to Brian Brown for Sandy Creek's final points, but the defense could not stop the Lions in the end.

Keith Rooks recovered a fumble and Trae Ward recovered a blocked punt for Sandy Creek, but Westlake made an interception on a key drive towards the end of the game to snatch the win away from the Patriots. Sandy Creek will host Woodward Academy (1-5) on Friday night.

The Our Lady of Mercy Bobcats are still having difficulty bringing in the reigns after their 3-0 start. The Bobcats have dropped three of the last four games they played including a 17-8 loss at the hands of the JV Wolves from Weslyan on Thursday at Mercy Field.

The Bobcats were hampered by injuries to the team's leading rusher Sam Etuk and the Bobcat's leading receiver, Nonso Moh. Freshman starting offensive guard Greg Spencer was weakened by a week long virus and was unable to perform at his peak level. The Bobcat defense continued to play well, allowing the Wolves offense to score on drives of 15 and 20 yards, all resulting from Mercy miscues on their side of the field.

Alex Hooper scored the lone Mercy touchdown pounding in from the one yard line late in the contest. Linebacker Matt Gill and Linebacker Ryan Sling contributed to the defensive effort giving by the Bobcats. Mercy is back in action Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001 as they travel to play the JV Union Grove team.

The PACE Panthers faced Fayette Christian in the final game of their season and won 24-20. The two teams traded touchdowns back and forth for the first half with two touchdowns coming in the final minute and a half of the first half. The score at the half was 20-18 in favor of the Fayette Christian Falcons. Both teams defenses settled down in the second half and a touchdown by PACE gave them the win.

Landmark Christian was off last week and will travel to take on Bowdon this Friday.
