Hood Avenue is home to historic tree

A seedling from one of the last known trees to have been planted by Johnny Appleseed now has a permanent home at Hood Avenue Elementary School.

Parent Forest Cate donated the seedling to the school and planted it while first grade students watched.

Cate told the students some interesting facts about Johnny Appleseed and educated them on how to take proper care of the seedling so that it will grow to be a strong and healthy tree.

American Forest Historic Trees, a company that researches and locates trees of historic significance and then propagates them for use in the landscape, certified the seedling.
