The high school football season keeps rolling along and some teams keep rolling along with it. Starr's Mill improved to 4-2 Friday by defeating Stockbridge 61-14. The Panthers got touchdowns from Chris Strauch, Recarta Heard, Rodrigues Heard, Izak DeBeers and Tim Fevella. The Panthers had close to 400 yards of offense and lead 41-0 at the half. Andrew Bashakes, Jake Jones and Jason Earwood were the three leading tacklers for the Panthers and Allen Conrad, David Hanson and Brooks Bowen each had a fumble recovery. The Starr's Mill defense held Stockbridge to 135 yards of offense. Starr's Mill hits the road this Friday to take on Morrow at Tara Stadium. Sandy Creek has started a streak by winning its second game in a row. The Patriots faced Heritage in Conyers and won 17-14. They will play in their home stadium this Friday when they take on Westlake. East Coweta trailed Lovejoy 8-6 at the half but came up to score 19 points in a row in the second half for a 25-8 victory. Marquis Maynard had three touchdowns for the Indians, including one from a 60-yard run. East Coweta hosts Stockbridge Friday. McIntosh faced Riverdale last Friday and lost 55-19. Robert Leon and Tanner Plauche played well on defense, though the Raiders piled up 486 yards of offense against the Chiefs. McIntosh hosts Mt. Zion of Jonesboro this Friday. Fayette County played Jonesboro Saturday afternoon and lost 10-9 after the Cardinals blocked a field goal with less than four minutes to play. It was the fourth straight win for Jonesboro. The Tigers will host Forest Park this Friday. Mercy rebounded from a 35-0 thumping the week before to beat the JV Riverside Military Academy football team 28-22 on Thursday night at Mercy Field. The Bobcats were once again lead on the ground by the running of Sam Etuk. Etuk scored his fifth and sixth touchdowns of the year en route to 171 yards on 27 carries. Fullback Chris Calle was instrumental in the scoring too. He led the way with key blocks all night long to open holes for Etuk. The offensive line, led by Alan Lancaster and Todd Benson, also provided outstanding blocking. Quarterback Ralph Woolfolk had his best game of the season to date. He was 6-of-12 passing with two touchdowns, one to Jeremy Johnson and a 61 yard strike to Nonso Moh. The Bobcat defense allowed 59 total yards to Riverside. Matt Gill, Alex Hooper, Ryan Sling and Quinton Jones were key components in the effort. Mercy is back in action on Thursday, Oct. 18 when they host Weslyan JV for a 5:30pm contest. Landmark Christian fell to Jefferson 23-14 last Friday. The War Eagles will have a bye this week and will travel to Bowdon on Oct. 26.
