Baci Italian Cuisine in Fayetteville will present "The Goldstein Sisters Variety Show ... Thing" Thursdays through Saturdays, Oct. 11-27.

The show marks the first full weekend run at Baci and it is also the first show that will be performed in the restaurant's new theater club, which resides in half of the restaurant.

The show is done in the style of the variety shows of the 1970s, like "Sonny and Cher," "Carol Burnett" and "Laugh-In." The material in the show deals with the politics, life-styles, music and television programs of the 1970s. There is some singing and dancing and lots of comedy.

"We really wanted to bring back the Goldstein Sisters," said Stuart Fail, who stars in the show and wrote some of the material along with Troy DeVolld and Michael Boylan. "They are a hit with many of the audiences who have seen a lot of the plays here and we are always getting asked when they will be coming back."

The Goldstein Sisters, Paula and Babs, played by Michelle Fail and Patrice Azzarito, popped up on the radio last week on WSSA, a Christian radio station, to help host an auction.

Other members of the cast include Brad Boseman and Craig DeLorenzo. The material in the show is best described as PG rated. It is aimed at the young at heart, but not the young of age.

Audience members are encouraged to dress in their best '70s attire. The winning couple will win two tickets to a future performance. The show is a dinner theater performance with dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m. and the show starting at 7:30 p.m. There will be several menu choices for the audience as well as a variety of appetizers to choose from. Tickets are $30.

This is the first of many shows coming to Baci in the near future. Creatures of Habit makes a return to the area for several Monday evening performances scheduled to begin Oct. 22.

The next full show will be "Brighton Beach Memoirs," scheduled to begin Nov. 12. The show will be performed by Baci's new youth program, featuring local high school students in all the roles.

Performance dates for "The Goldstein Sisters Variety Show ... Thing" are Thursdays, Oct. 11, 18 and 25, Fridays, Oct. 12 and 26, Saturdays, Oct. 13, 20 and 27 and a special matinee performance Sunday, Oct. 21. The matinee will begin with lunch at 1 p.m. followed by the show at 2 p.m. There are group discounts available for the matinee. Phone 770-460-7778.
