I am sad, disappointed and angry to find that, at this time of national mourning and crisis, a despicable and unpatriotic act of disrespect to the flag and to the cause for which it is being displayed has been occurring in Peachtree City.

Anyone who cares about this country and the thousands of men, women and children who were killed in airplanes and buildings on Sept. 11 would be incapable of stealing flags flown to mourn and honor them and our country.

To those who have been stealing flags: You have gone beyond vandalism and theft. Anyone who flies a flag that has been stolen is displaying a flag that has been defiled, tantamount to dishonoring our country and the people for which it stands. Shame on you!

If you have a conscience you will do the right thing return those flags!
