Stealing flag mocks all our nation stands for

The destruction of the World Trade Center buildings in New York, and the attack on the Pentagon, sent shock waves through our society. Scarcely anyone in Peachtree City was unaffected.

The response of the people to this catastrophe was heartwarming. People donated money to organizations to help in the disaster relief. Others donated blood through local blood banks, and some even went to New York to provide assistance to those in need. This horrible event brought out the best in people.

Unfortunately, it also brought out the bad side in others. We had an American flag standing at the entrance to our development to show our support, but on the night of Sept. 30, someone stole the flag, including the iron pipe used to support it.

We would appreciate it if whoever took it would return it. Stealing the flag makes a mockery of everything for which it stands.
