Cooper Lighting expands it's PTC base

With the opening of Cooper Lighting's new Source training center, those served by the lighting industry have gained the ultimate resource for acquiring a complete understanding of illumination.

The new training center opened last week in Peachtree City and is part of the company's recent expansion of the plant.

Functioning as the definitive forum for lighting knowledge, Source, created by Cooper Lighting, masters the educational sphere of illumination concepts essential to meeting the needs of every industry professional on any level, company officials say.

Cooper officials expect nearly 5,000 lighting officials to visit the center every year for education and training seminars.

Architecturally innovative and exceptionally designed, Source is the lighting industry's state-of-the-art training facility. Through a series of original and dramatic presentations and demonstrations, Source is dedicated to providing industry professionals with an educational experience unequaled at any other lighting facility in the country.

"Anyone who enters its doors is assured of acquiring new heights in lighting comprehension," said a company spokesman. "Anyone who leaves its doors will take back to their respective professional fields a greater appreciation and understanding of lighting and a greater ability to attain fresh and exciting possibilities addressing the art and science of lighting."

The symbol of Source a three-sided crystal pyramid, incorporates a number of ideals. The pyramid's shape is representative of education: its three walls manifest the industry's three lamp types; incandescent, fluorescent and HID, and its meaning culminates in the pyramid's symbolization of the "cone of light," the measurement standard relating to lamp/fixture performance.

Intended to be an important industry catalyst that will advance illumination skills and expertise, Source has been specifically created to serve interior designers, architects, facilities managerslighting designers, store and restaurant planners, electrical contractors, distributors, builders and remodelers.

From novice to veteran, the facility presents continuous opportunities for these professionals to gain a deeper knowledge of lighting performance, design, installation, logistics, control and visual effects.

A 35,000-sq. ft. working laboratory based on hands-on examination, Source presents a blend of stylized classrooms, real life application areas, extensive showrooms and the nucleus of the facility the fundamentals/technology room, where the full educational experience begins.

Finally, specialty lighting for prisons, clean rooms, food processing plants, along with medical lighting and vandal resistant luminaries are displayed in the complex environment products showroom.

Collectively, the showrooms and application areas combine to display over 2,000 luminaires and literally thousands of lighting solutions.
