If you are a pro wrestling fan, there is only one place you want to be this Saturday, Oct. 6: The South Atlanta Showdown at the Kiwanis Fairgrounds complex in Fayetteville.

There will be WWF and WCW wrestlers duking it out in a benefit for the Fayette County High School wrestling team.

The day begins with some autograph signings around town. Public Enemy, the former WCW/ECW tag team champions, will sign autographs at Play It Again Sports at 1 p.m. Disc Inferno will appear at Gym South at 2:30 p.m. and will give an inspirational talk to local youths at 3 p.m. There will also be a drawing for three pairs of tickets to the evening's main event.

At 6:45 p.m., FanFest begins. FanFest, which is free with admission, allows fans to meet and greet all of the wrestlers on the card as well as WWF Superstar Chris "The Crippler" Benoit and Legendary "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff.

The wrestling begins at 8 p.m. with an NWA Wildside TV title match between Adam Jacobs and The IceMan, followed by a match between Sgt. Buddy Lee Parker and David Young. The bigger matches follow with a Legends match between "The Living Legend" Larry Zybysko and Terry Taylor and an anything goes table match between Public Enemy and the Southside Juggalo's. The main event will feature Buff Bagwell vs. Disco Inferno. Bagwell will be manged by Coach Jim Bailey, the wrestling coach for Fayette County High School.

Former WCW referee Marc "Slick" Johnson will call the action and WCW anouncer David Penzer will be the master of ceremonies. The South Atlanta Showdown is the brainchild of Penzer, who would like to put on more shows for the other local high school wrestling teams in the future.

Tickets to the event include admission to FanFest and the event and a free program. Advance tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for children under 12. Advance tickets are available in Fayetteville at World Gym, MeLears BBQ, Play It Again Sports and GTO's Drive In. Tickets are available in Peachtree City at World Gym, Beef 'O' Brady's and Island Club Tan (next to Papa Johns). Tickets will be available at the door for $15 for adults and $12 for children under 12. More information is available at prowrestlinginternational.com.

In addition, due to recent events, both Pro Wrestling International and the Fayette County High School wrestling team, in coordination with the local fire departments, have decided to donate $1 from each ticket sold to the New York Fire 911 Disaster Relief Fund. This money will be used to aid families of the fallen heroes in the FDNY.
