The regular season of high school softball ended this week and there were lots of surprises, setting up an interesting area tournament.

McIntosh finished the season with three straight wins, improving to 14-3 overall. On Monday, McIntosh defeated East Coweta, 7-1 after a four run fourth inning. The Lady Chiefs blanked North Clayton 10-0 on Tuesday and beat Lovejoy 9-1 on Wednesday. In their last three games, McIntosh outscored their opponents, 26-2, building some momentum for the postseason.

Starr's Mill has some nice momentum as well. The Lady Panthers handed the Fayette County Lady Tigers their first region loss of the season on Tuesday, winning 6-2. Starr's Mill had 11 hits in the win and held Fayette County to only three hits.

The area tournament is scheduled to begin on Monday. Check the Citizen's website for a schedule and results.
