Admit it, you have had a hankering for some funnel cake recently, haven't you?

In fact, lately, you've also had an urge to ride a Ferris wheel and follow it up by trying to win a stuffed animal. Not to mention, there has been that unexplainable idea of watching pigs race. If you are nodding your head in agreement as you read this article, there is only one place for you to go the 2001 Fayette County Kiwanis Fair.

The fair returned to Fayette County earlier this week and brought a flashy midway, dozens of exhibits, your favorite selection of festival foods and more entertaining things than you can shake a stick at. The fair will run through Saturday at the fairgrounds off Goza Road south of Fayetteville.

Upon entering the fairgrounds, patrons can peruse dozens of exhibits from local companies and organizations including Fayette Safe Kids Coalition, Dazzles Roller Rink, several churches and Boy Scout troops and Pro Wrestling International. PWI will be promoting the upcoming South Atlanta Showdown and will have a number of wrestlers on hand throughout the rest of the week. There will also be hundreds of entries in home craft categories that local residents have entered in, including needlework, canning, leather goods and more.

Gates open at 6 p.m. and close at 10 p.m. through Friday. The Robinson Racing Pigs Show will take place at 7 and 8 p.m. through Saturday with two extra performances Saturday at 2 and 4 p.m. WCW/WWF superstar Buff Bagwell will sign autographs Thursday night from 7-9 p.m. and WCW diva The Scream Queen will meet guests from 8-10 p.m. Friday. Friday night will also feature performances from Miss Patsy's School of Dance at 7 p.m. and a performance from Daddy's Money, featuring local singer Amber Tucker, at 8 p.m.

Saturday kicks off with a horse show 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The show is free and will take place next to the parking lot. Gates open at 1 p.m. Saturday. WCW Legendary Manager "The Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart will sign autographs 3-6 p.m. Saturday. If that isn't spicy enough for you, try the second annual Chili Cookoff, which begins at 4:30 p.m. Justus performs on the stage at 8 p.m. and the midway closes at 10 p.m.

Patrons can purchase arm bands at the ticket booths of the fair which will guarantee unlimited rides. Arm bands are $15 and are good from 6-10 p.m. Wednesday through Friday or from 1-6 p.m. or 6-10 p.m. Saturday. Parking is $1 and admission is $4 for adults, $3 for seniors, $2 for children under 12 and free for children under 5.

To some folks, there is nothing better than a county fair. If you are a like-minded individual, make sure you head out to the fairgrounds and have a good time.
