Busy week and weekend for high school sports teams By MICHAEL

The high school athletic schedule resumed this week. Last week's cancelled games will be made up at the end of the season. This week's football games are Starr's Mill (1-1) vs. Riverdale, McIntosh (0-1) vs. Jonesboro, Fayette County (1-1) vs. Lovejoy, East Coweta (2-0) at North Clayton, and Landmark Christian (2-0) vs. Gordon Lee. Sandy Creek is off this week and Our Lady of Mercy hosted the Calloway junior varsity team yesterday at 5:30 p.m. All other games are scheduled for today at 7:30 p.m. Cross country gets back underway this weekend with the Fall Classic Cross Country Invitational at Sandy Creek High School Saturday at 9 a.m. All four county high schools will be represented as well as some of the top programs in the state. The softball and volleyball seasons are nearing the end of the regular season and the local teams will play key matches against their region rivals. In volleyball, Starr's Mill will face Fayette County and Riverdale at Fayette County High School on Tuesday, before traveling to Fairburn on Thursday to face the third ranked Landmark Christian Lady War Eagles and Riverwood. McIntosh will face East Coweta, North Clayton and Newnan at the Kedron Fieldhouse on Tuesday and then will host Woodward Academy and East Coweta on Thursday. Sandy Creek's Lady Patriots will travel to Callaway on Tuesaday to meet Callaway and Northgate. All matches are scheduled to begin at 4:45 p.m. As for softball, McIntosh is the only team active this weekend as they will play in the Milton Invitational, which begins this afternoon. The Lady Chiefs will travel to North Clayton on Tuesday for a game at 5 p.m. Starr's Mill will face Fayette County at McCurry Park at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
