Busy week and weekend for high school sports teams

The high school athletic schedule resumes this week. Last week's cancelled games will be made up at the end of the season.

In softball, yesterday saw McIntosh play at Riverdale, Starr's Mill host East Coweta and Fayette County host North Clayton. The Lady Chiefs will play at East Coweta tomorrow at 6 p.m., while Starr's Mill will host Newnan at 4:30 p.m. and Fayette County will play at Lovejoy at 6 p.m. McIntosh will also participate in the Milton invitational tournament beginning Friday.

In volleyball action this week, Starr's Mill hosted Newnan, Fayette County and East Coweta yesterday, while McIntosh traveled to take on North Clayton and Sandy Creek took on Troup, Creekside and Westlake at Troup County High School. The Lady Tigers of Fayette County will host Central Gwinnett Thursday at 5:55 p.m., while the Lady Chiefs will host Sandy Creek at 4:45 p.m.

This week's football games are Starr's Mill vs. Riverdale, McIntosh vs. Jonesboro, Fayette County vs. Lovejoy, East Coweta at North Clayton, and Landmark Christian vs. Gordon Lee. Sandy Creek is off this week and Our Lady of Mercy will host the Calloway junior varsity team Thursday at 5:30 p.m. All other games are scheduled for Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Cross country gets back underway this weekend with the Fall Classic Cross Country Invitational at Sandy Creek High School Saturday at 9 a.m. All four county high schools will be represented as well as some of the top programs in the state.
