EMC wants to help New York victims

Today, Michael C. Whiteside, President & CEO of Coweta-Fayette EMC, issued a statement in regard to the terrorist attacks in New York, Washington, DC and Pennsylvania. His statement, made at the EMC's corporate headquarters in Newnan, follows:

On Tuesday, our country suffered great losses: thousands of lives were taken; our children were pushed into a state of fear; air traffic came to a halt, as did our financial activity through the stock markets; retailers were forced to close; our sports leagues and cultural venues cancelled all activities; the very fabric of America has been torn, and our way of life will be forever changed.

People unknown at this time have chosen to use an act of war, through using families and children who make up America just like you and I. They became human bombs.

Here at Coweta-Fayette EMC, our thoughts and prayers have been with the families, friends and neighbors of the victims of this horrendous attack. We encourage our employees to donate blood over the coming weeks, as the Red Cross reports need to replenish; our staff is currently discussing ways in which they might further assist New York during the coming weeks.

We are aware that many of our members and customers will have relatives and/or friends who live in New York or Washington, DC, and may be involved in some way. To them, we extend our sympathy and concern.

All of us, though, are encouraged to see our fellow Americans strong and resolved during this crisis; we will remain 'one nation, under God, indivisible...' We support our President and Congress in coming days, as they make decisions that will affect our country.

Coweta-Fayette EMC will continue to provide service to our members, but we will also remember the thousands of families who will deal with grief for a very long time. May God bless America.

Coweta-Fayette EMC provides electricity to members in Coweta, Fayette, South Fulton, Meriwether, Heard and parts of Clayton and Spalding Counties. Relyco Resources is a subsidiary of the EMC, and manages several products and services.
