Local cross country squads run at Berry

The largest cross country meet of the season, other than the state meet, took place at Berry College last weekend. The local boys and girls squads competed well and some of them placed within the top 10 teams at the meet.

McIntosh's girls placed fourth in AAAAA, while Starr's Mill placed 20th and Fayette County placed 33rd. The top five girls from each team are as follows. For McIntosh, Dana van Winkle, 10, 20:03; Judy Thomasson, 12, 20:16; Elizabeth Gardner, 27, 20:40; Mary Crofton, 56, 21:39; and Megan Spencer, 105, 22:36. For Starr's Mill, Heather Krehbiel, 39, 21:09; Katie Hughes, 70, 21:54; Lee Ann Noraj, 161, 23:42; Samantha Hudson, 190, 24:20; and Jennifer Krona, 198, 24:37. For Fayette County, Kyle Magerl, 236, 25:41; Jennifer Davis, 257, 26:23; Kerry magerl, 275, 27:42; Allison Nelma, 277, 27:45; and Stephanie Patterson, 278, 27:46.

In the Class AAAAA boys race, Landmark Christian placed third, McIntosh placed 11th, Starr's Mill placed 19th and Fayette County placed 20th. Both the War Eagles and Chiefs qualified for the state meet at Berry. Landmark's top five racers were Clark Rivers, 10, 16:20; Blake Fertitta, 24, 16:44; Joseph Register, 33, 17:01; Eric Sumner, 59, 17:30; and Chirs Rogers, 82, 17:49. McIntosh's top five runners were Shaun Emery, 15, 16:30; Randy Hutchinson, 46, 17:17; Anthony Collier Quinn, 64, 17:35; Charlie Gonzalez, 79, 17:47; Ben Brantly, 93, 17:55.

The top five runners for Starr's Mill were Ricardo ramos, 63, 17:34; Richard Epton, 94, 17:55; Bradley Morris, 110, 18:02; Patrick Kassin, 136, 18:19 and Jacob McBride, 148, 18:27. Fayette County's top five runners were John Miklas, 35, 17:05; Blake Alverson, 60, 17:32; Ian Stewart, 122, 18:10; Chris Williamson, 143, 18:25; and Ryan Wolfe, 151, 18:29.

Sandy Creek's boys and girls competed in the AAAA race. The boys finished 36th, while the girls finished 20th. The top five runners for the boys were Chris Wilson, 138, 19:30; Matt Aycock, 246, 20:47; Jason Stevens, 253, 20:55; Matt Coffey, 257, 21:00 and John Fields, 273, 21:19. The top five Lady Patriots were Ashley Blackburn, 52, 22:30; Hilary Vernon, 118, 23:52; Stephanie Boettcher, 140, 24:18; Brie Harrrington, 157, 24:42; and Mandi Harrington, 185, 25:11.

Landmark Christian's girls placed 12th in the Class A race. Their top five runners were Emily Wood, 28, 22;51; Mary Michael Joiner, 35, 22:58; Courtney Piribek, 84, 24:30; Kate Bailey, 85, 24:30; and Sarah King, 102, 25:04.
