Business success classes are up and running

The county's newest efforts to help small business owners is up and running.

The Fayette County Development Authority, in conjunction with Clayton College & State University, started the Fayette Small Business Success Series this week.

The series is designed to assist local entrepreneurs and small business owners. Attendees will learn basic management skills and practical information for start-ups and existing businesses.

Topics will cover updating skills in certain management, marketing and financial areas. The complete series of class is suggested for pre-start-up or early stage companies. Each class is $49.

Classes are scheduled every other Monday and started Sept. 10. The classes continue though Nov. 19.

The classes are on the third floor of the historic Old Fayette County Courthouse. Upcoming classes include:

F Writing a business plan.

Need a small business loan? Need investors? Need to put ideas on paper? Need to chart your course for success? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you need a business plan.

In this course you will learn how to write a simple, effective business plan. Participants receive a detailed workbook to get started right away. The class is Sept. 22 from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.

F Financing your small business. Learn the truth about funding your business.

This seminar examines traditional financing methods like banks, SBA loans and venture capital, as well as less traditional forms of "creative financing." Learn the best way to finance your start-up or growing business. The class is Oct. 8 from 6:30- 9:30 p.m.
