Starr's Mill and East Coweta's football teams, both ranked in the Class AAAAA poll, are back in action tonight.

The Panthers (0-1) are ranked 10th in Class AAAAA. They will host the Fayette County Tigers (1-0) tonight. Fayette County got solid production from their running game and showed that they are also a passing threat with T. J. Brandenburg making several catches including one for a touchdown. Starr's Mill also has several weapons in their running game as well as an athletic defense.

East Coweta (1-0), ranked fourth in Class AAAAA, hosts the Stockbridge Tigers (0-1) tonight. The Indians have a solid offense that can beat teams with an explosive running game and an efficient passing game. Fullback Preston Stricklin gained over 150 yards against the Starr's Mill panthers in the Corky Kell kickoff Classic and should be able to gain as much, if not more, against the Tigers. The Indian defense is very fast and hard-hitting and should be able to control Stockbridge's offense.

Sandy Creek (0-1) travels to Oconee County (1-0) tonight with hopes of putting up some numbers on the scoreboard and getting into the win column. The Patriots have some experience on both sides of the ball, but they are young. Their defense is led by top national recruit Kedric Golston and features Brooks Martin and Thomas Munson, while their running game is helped by an experienced offensive line featuring Riley Swanson and Matt Kilgore.

Landmark Christian also hits the road this evening to face Madison County, Ala. The War Eagles, under new coach Kenny Dallas, defeated Wesleyan 21-7 last Friday and would like to see a repeat performance from their offense and defense tonight. A win for the War Eagles tonight doubles their win total from last season.

All games are scheduled to kickoff at 7:30 p.m. tonight. Fans at the Fayette County - Starr's Mill game can tune into the radio broadcast at 91.5 FM or listen on the internet at www.thecitizennews.com .

In other sports this weekend, McIntosh, Fayette County, Starr's Mill, Sandy Creek and East Coweta will send their cross country teams to compete in the Darlington/Berry Invitational at Berry College tomorrow morning, while Fayette County's softball team will compete in the Cherokee County softball tournament today and tomorrow.
