Tennis tournament starts Sunday
Some of the future stars of women's tennis are set to arrive in Peachtree City this weekend. The Peachtree City Tennis Center will host the USTA Women's Professional Championship, the seventh straight year that the center has hosted a professional tournament. The $25,000 event kicks of this Sunday and lasts a week. A number of top American players are expected to compete, such as Allison Bradshaw, fresh off a first-round win at the U.S. Open. Rising stars from Georgia such as Ashley Harkleroad, dubbed by Tennis magazine as the "next Anna," and Ansley Cargill have also decided to come to town for the tournament. Super Saturday, set for Sept. 15, features the semifinals of singles and doubles, with the Atlanta Men's Pro League to follow in the evening. The finals will be held the next day. |
