Please, improve MHS restrooms As the parent of a McIntosh High School student, I was appalled to learn recently of the deplorable back-to-school conditions existing within MHS's female restroom facilities. According to my daughter, very few of the individual bathroom stalls offer any type of functional latch with which to ensure user privacy. Instead, most students are forced to "engineer" their own form of latch with rolled-up toilet paper, etc., in order to secure privacy. When the few working stalls are occupied (which is most of the time) the remaining students have the option of either (a) waiting their turn to use a functional stall or (b) employing their engineering talents in a nonfunctional stall. To add insult to injury, several of the bathroom stalls are without any form of door. The facilities are generally unsanitary and in need of basic features common to most restrooms. No, this is not simply my daughter's opinion. To the contrary, there are far too many of her classmates complaining about these same conditions to "say it ain't so." Would it be too much to ask of the principal and staff of one of Georgia's "Schools of Excellence" to provide the basic bathroom essentials for these students? As residents of Fayette County, isn't it a little more than embarrassing that our kids are faced with these poor restroom conditions on a daily basis? I'm certain that most parents will agree that this lack of common courtesy, coupled with what appears to be a general insensitivity toward our kids, is simply intolerable. As such, we appeal to your sense of professional courtesy and common decency in resolving this issue immediately. Distressed parent Peachtree City
