Newest upscale subdivision makes its debut in Tyrone By JOHN
THOMPSON
Tyrone's newest upscale subdivision is open for business. Southampton neighborhood staged its ribbon cutting last Thursday and is the latest John Wieland development in Fayette County. The community opened for sales in August and has already sold five homes. Tyrone's town leaders showed up under a blazing Southern sun Thursday to welcome John Wieland into the community. The new community is just off Ga. Highway 74 and features 292 homesite with prices ranging from the low $200's to the mid $300's. Some of the amenities at the new community include the Southampton Club, which is a 6,000-sq. ft. clubhouse with a six-lane swimming pool, waterslide, wading pool, four tennis courts, a children's playground, a multipurpose court and walking trails. In addition to the residential portion, homeowners in the community will soon have a commercial development just outside the community on Hwy. 74. Developer Phil Seay said at the groundbreaking that he hopes a Publix supermarket will be completed in just a year for the convenience of the residents. Additionally, 20,000 square feet of retail are planned for the complex. Wieland thanked the town officials for help in getting the community off the ground, and said he's excited about the development. Wieland also became a Partner in Education with Tyrone Elementary School. |
