High school sports has full weekend planned

The high school softball and volleyball seasons kicked off earlier this week and several local schools will be busy in those sports this weekend. There will also be a few football jamborees taking place on Friday night, giving local sports fans some options of which games to take in.

Fayette County High School and Starr's Mill's volleyball and softball teams are both scheduled to play in tournaments this weekend. The softball teams will play in the Jordan Invitational tournament in Columbus on Friday and Saturday, while the volleyball teams are both slated to participate in the Sequoyah Invitational tournament in Woodstock on Saturday. Games are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

As for preseason football games, Starr's Mill will host the Harrison Hoyas on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The Hoyas were the team that knocked the Panthers out of the state playoffs last year. McIntosh will travel to Sharpsburg to take on the East Coweta Indians at , while Sandy Creek will travel to Newnan to take on Northgate. Both games in Coweta County are scheduled to begin aty 7:30 p.m. as well.
