Barbara Bush will be speaker at Southwest Christian Hospice event

Southwest Christian Hospice has announced that former first lady Barbara Bush is scheduled to be the guest speaker at its annual benefit dinner and awards banquet scheduled for Friday, Dec. 7. The event will be held at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are $100 per person. Reservations are required and are currently being taken.

"Barbara Bush is America's most honored, respected and loved first lady," a spokesperson said. "She has, in her own way, become the voice of mothers, families and communities throughout our nation. Through her tireless efforts as a supporter of AmeriCares, the Leukemia Society of America, Ronald McDonald houses, the Mayo Clinic Foundation, the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and, her pride and joy, the Barbara Bush Foundation of Family Literacy, she continues to empower and encourage those who need assistance in a variety of areas."

Bush is the author of "C. Fred's Story" and the bestselling "Millie's Book," whose profits benefited the literacy cause, and, most recently, "Barbara Bush: A Memoir," her bestselling autobiography emphasizing the importance of family, faith and friends.

"We are elated to have Mrs. Bush as our guest speaker," the spokesperson said. "You won't want to miss this inspiring evening."

Tickets are $100 per person or $1,000 per table. Corporate sponsorships are available in silver ($1,250), gold ($2,500) and platinum ($5,000) categories, and include one table, two tables and three tables of ten respectively. Corporate sponsorship includes corporate name recognition in the dinner program and at each table.

Gifts are tax deductible and checks should be made payable to Southwest Christian Hospice.
