Center resident concerned about nearby plant
When I moved into Christian City, a life lease home, 16 years ago, it was a quiet peaceful residential area. I never had a thought that a power plant would be built in such close proximity adding noise and pollution to the area that possibly would affect my health. I have a personal concern, but I have an even graver concern for other residents of the communitythose who are in the convalescent center in poor health or ill, those living in the assisted living tower, most of whom are very frail and old, those residing in the four apartment buildings, those living in the four residential area life lease homes and yes, the 40-50 children who live in our children's cottages. I am concerned about the impact and the possible health hazards it poses on our whole community here at Christian City. The future of Christian City could be at stake. Williams Company has so far presented very inconclusive facts. The presentation at the open meeting here did not allay my concerns on these issues. I don plan to attend the meeting next Tuesday sponsored by Rep. Sharon Beasley-Teague in the Burdette Gym. Experts on noise, water and pollution are scheduled to do presentations and will hopefully give definite answers to these concerns. Jill Growney-Mowens Union City
