Former chamber chairman signs on with Group VI

Group VI Corporation has announced that Tate Godfrey has joined the company as senior vice president of business development.

Formerly the executive director of office and industrial sales and leasing with Pathway Communities, Godfrey will now be responsible for new business development and for coordinating all Group VI business activities with statewide professional development groups such as the Georgia Department of Industry, Trade and Tourism, and the Georgia Economic Development Association.

As a licensed real estate broker, Godfrey also is involved with Group VI brokerage activities.

"Tate's extensive experience in economic development, land planning and real estate development make him a natural choice for the new position," said Jim Pace, president of Group VI.

"Tate is a Certified Economic Developer, a designation of the American Economic Development Council, and as one of only 40 CEDs in the state of Georgia, brings a unique perspective to Group VI," Pace added.

"As our company grows and our project territory expands, we felt it imperative that someone of Tate's expertise concentrate on business development full-time," said Pace.

Godfrey has more than 20 years experience in marketing business development. Prior to joining Group VI in July of this year he was responsible for managing all aspects of marketing, sales and leasing of industrial and office properties within Peachtree City for Pathway Communities.

Prior to that, he served as president and CEO of Peach County Chamber of Commerce and Peach County Development Authority in Ft. Valley, Ga. and before that worked for Oglethorpe Power Corporation for ten years in the land planning and business development divisions.

A native of Rome, Ga., he received his undergraduate degree in urban studies and went on to receive his graduate degree in city planning at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn. He is a member of the Development Authority of Peachtree City and serves as its secretary/treasurer, and is a past chairman of the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce.

Group VI, a full-service construction, development and real estate firm headquartered in Peachtree City, has completed many office, medical, industrial, religious, and commercial projects throughout the Southeast and currently has active projects in Georgia, Florida and North Carolina.
