Main Street Fayetteville announces 8th annual golf tournament

Plans are in full swing for the 8th annual Main Street Golf Tournament slated for Sept. 14 at Whitewater Country Club.

"Applications have been mailed, and we expect to fill up the 36 teams very quickly," said Main Street Manager Nancy Price.

Cost of the tournament is $125 per individual, which includes green fees, lunch, dinner, and golf cart and range balls. For $250 you can become a hole sponsor, and $700 will cover a foursome along with a hole sponsor package.

There are also several meal sponsor opportunities for $1,200, which includes entry fees for a foursome, and company name included on three holes.

"I think this is a perfect opportunity for area businesses to support the worthwhile mission of Main Street," said Price. "After all, Fayetteville is the county seat, and I think everyone has a vested interest in seeing history preserved."

Proceeds from the golf tournament are used in part to fund the following projects:

Brick sidewalks and turn-of-the century lighting.

Renovations of the Holliday-Dorsey-Fife House (Soon to be Fayette County's first historical museum).

Development of a downtown walking tour.

Renovations to the historic City Cemetery.

The tournament begins at 11:30 a.m. with registration and opportunity to use the practice range. There will be a complimentary lunch served at noon with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

The tournament will be Ft. Lauderdale style, and grand prizes will be awarded for first-, second-, and third-place teams. Other prizes will be given for Longest Drive, Closest to the Hole and Hole-In-One contests.

Complimentary dinner will be served upon completion of the tournament, followed by the awards reception and raffle drawings.

To receive an application for the tournament, or for further information regarding Main Street, please call Price at 770-461-6029.
