Sports Calendar Registration for Peachtree City girls softball will be Saturday, August 4 at the Braelinn Kroger from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The fee is $75 per player or $150 per family. The softball league is open to girls ages 5-18. Practices begin August 20 and the season starts on Sept. 17. Phone 770-487-0526. The Lightning Soccer Club will have late registration for under 10 boys and girls Aug. 6-7 at McCurry Park in Fayetteville from 6-7 p.m. They also need players in under 11 boys and girls, under 12 boys and girls and under 16 and 17 boys. Visit www.fcysl.org. The East Point Invitational 2001 Boys Basketball Championships, Aug. 10-12, open to teams 16 and under, 14 and under and 12 and under. The Optimist Club of Peachtree City will offer a tennis clinic Saturday, Aug. 11 at the Peachtree City Tennis Center from 9 a.m.-noon. The clinic is open to ages 6-10 years old and 11-15 years old. The Peachtree City Tennis Center's ladies beginner tennis league is having registration for their upcoming season. The league is a great way to meet new players and to learn the game. The first Tyrone Founders Day golf tournament will take place Sept. 8 at Whitewater Country Club. The fee is $65 per person or $260 per foursome. Hole sponsorship is also available. System U Speed is now recruiting people interested in the highly competitive sport of inline speed skating. The team is currently practicing Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 4:30 to 6:30 at the Newnan Skate Palace.
