Tennis games, demonstrations set for festival Sat. at PTC Tennis Center

The Georgia Tennis Association's 2001 Georgia Tennis Festival will be at the Peachtree City Tennis Center Saturday beginning at 5 p.m.

A variety of activities are scheduled, ranging from racquet demonstrations to pro exhibition matches including live entertainment by Atlanta-based band Livin'Large.

Food, games and prizes are also on the agenda.

The evening will begin with racquet demonstrations on several courts from 5-7 p.m. with games, prizes, a kid's court area and fast serve contests on tap. Also, those attending will have a shot at winning a year's free lease on a BMW, courtesy of Hank Aaron BMW.

At 7 p.m., the pro exhibition begins with former touring pros Andre Janasik, Doug Flach, Paul Mancini and Rebecca Jensen. Also playing will be local Peachtree City talents Jenny Schular and Priscilla Roberts.

Livin'Large will crank up the music from 8:30-10:30 p.m., when the festival is scheduled to end.

The United States Tennis Association (USTA) is the national governing body of tennis. In addition to owning the U.S. Open and selecting members of the Davis Cup, Federation Cup and Olympic teams, the USTA administers a variety of programs nationwide for players of all ages and ability levels.

USTA is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is "To promote and develop the growth of tennis."

As an extension of the GTA, the Georgia Tennis Foundation is a tax-exempt nonprofit organization whose sole purpose is educational & charitable.
