Peachtree City Church of God seeks donations of empty printer cartridges Members of the Peachtree City Church of God are seeking local businesses to "adopt" their church for a recycling program that offers free playground equipment for the children in exchange for empty laser and inkjet cartridges. The Educational Technology and Conservation Exchange Program encourages schools and nonprofit organizations to collect empty laser and inkjet printer cartridges from their community and exchange them for "points," which go toward new, state-of-the-art playground equipment. ETCEP currently has 6,500 schools participating that are supported by 60,000 businesses including banks, insurance agencies, hospitals, office supply stores, grocery stores, and other businesses. Local companies interested in demonstrating their commitment to community and the environment can participate in the Adopt-An-Organization program by adopting Peachtree City Church of God and pledging their empty laser and inkjet cartridges to the church that's all. There is never a cost involved in participating. Prepaid shipping boxes are sent to businesses for collected cartridges and a representative from the church will pick-up the filled containers. Or, for the community's convenience, a cartridge drop-off site is located in the main hallway of the church, one mile east of Thomas Crossroads on Ga. Hwy. 34 between Peachtree City and Newnan. Tina Jackson, children's pastor, remarks on how simple it is for the community to participate. "By simply saving empty cartridges and donating them to Peachtree City Church of God, we help protect the environment and earn free playground equipment for our children," she said. "With over 275 million cartridges thrown away last year alone, it should be easy to meet our first year goal of one new playground set for our children."
