Nominate your favorite faith-based show for AIB Allen special recognition awards

Do you have a favorite TV show that is not only a quality show, but also one which you think "inspires and uplifts the human spirit?"

Then you may have a candidate for an award at the first annual AIB Allen Awards show, sponsored by Atlanta Interfaith Broadcasters, Inc. and planned for Tuesday, Oct. 16, in Atlanta. The ceremony will honor programmers for broadcast excellence while keeping their message inspirational, educational, and relevant to today's society.

Collie Burnett, president and CEO of AIB says there are awards presented for all categories of events, from music to movies and theatre to television. "Somebody should recognize those programmers who present not only quality programs, but those that inspire and uplift the human spirit," he said. "Over the past 30 years, cable has made it possible for the production of many socially redeeming television shows. It is also responsible for the creation of new television networks programming to the interests of many different audiences."

AIB's chairman of the board, the Rev. H. Thomas Money added, "The awards program was created to honor the memory of AIB's founder, the Rev. John Allen. It was his wish that the faith-based and nonprofit communities have a local television network to present their message to the Atlanta public."

Categories to be recognized include Outstanding Continuous Faith Based Outreach Program, Most Outstanding Technical Production, and Most Effective Nonprofit Program. Nominations and entries for the Allen Awards will be received between Aug. 1 and Aug. 15, 2001, with finalists announced in September. AIB will telecast the award ceremony live on AT&T Broadband Channel 5, BellSouth Americast Channel 4, and Charter Communications' Smyrna Channel 14 and Roswell Channel 23.

Since 1982, AIB has presented over 150,000 hours of televised faith-based, educational and published
