New commissioner Pfeifer says thanks to supporters

I owe my thanks to many people after the election of last Tuesday. First, I'll repeat what I said Tuesday night: I thank the Lord, the voters, my family and all those who helped the campaign.

The last category includes those who had signs in their yard, those who helped put up signs around the county, those who passed out flyers, those who did the phone calling, those who contributed financially to the campaign and those who talked to their friends about the campaign. And, thanks to Christina, Julie, Katie, Laura, Lauren, Sarah and Toni, the Forth of July Girls.

Some people stuck their necks out to publicly support my candidacy. Thanks for your courage. In this category I'd include thanks for the endorsement of The Citizen newspaper.

We were all glad to see the turnout increase, even if slightly, for the runoff. I thank those who voted for me and I hope to win the support, over time, of most of those who did not vote for me.

I'd also like to thank the other candidates. They all conducted themselves well and there weren't any personal attacks to mar the campaigns. It is not a small thing to decide to run for public office, and I compliment every one of them for taking that step.

Thanks again for your confidence and support. I will try my best not to let you down.

Peter Pfeifer
